COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ON ENERGY TRANSITION

Under our ongoing program Community Engagement on Energy Transition #CEET, We are empowering grass root women in cooking alternatives. This is intended to leave no one behind but also pick community perspectives on Energy Transition.

Understanding that community acceptability of these initiatives is very key, we are creating awareness on the impacts of overlying on charcoal and firewood, for example charcoal and firewood contribute significantly to indoor air pollution resulting to approximately 600,000 deaths annually in Africa.

But also understanding that in #Uganda, Over 90% rely on charcoal and firewood for their daily energy indeed research has shown that charcoal from a 7 year tree is used by a family for 14 days, meaning that every fortnight an average family of seven people cuts down a tree to cook food, and this will be worse in future because as pollution grows, demand increases.
